Vietravel and MakeMyTrip sign a strategic partnership strengthening tourism connectivity between Vietnam and India

Mumbai, May 7, 2026 – At the Vietnam–India Business Forum held during the State Visit to India by General Secretary and President To Lam, Vietravel and MakeMyTrip — India’s largest online travel platform (OTA) — officially signed a strategic cooperation agreement and exchanged a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) under the witness of General Secretary and President To Lam and senior leaders of the Government of India. The event marked a significant milestone in strengthening tourism connectivity between Vietnam and India while opening a new chapter of cooperation between enterprises from both countries.

From May 5 to May 7, 2026, General Secretary and President To Lam conducted a State Visit to India on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Vietnam–India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (2016–2026). As part of the official program, Vietravel was honored to participate in the Vietnam–India Business Forum — one of the most important platforms for economic cooperation and business connectivity between the two nations.

Vietravel’s presence at the event not only reflected the company’s established reputation and operational capabilities demonstrated through numerous national and international events but also reaffirmed its role in supporting diplomatic activities, fostering international cooperation, and promoting Vietnam’s image to the world.

Throughout more than three decades alongside Vietnam’s tourism industry, Vietravel has repeatedly been entrusted by the Government, ministries, and international organizations to organize large-scale national and regional events such as APEC 2006, APEC 2017, the United Nations Day of Vesak, the Asian Beach Games 2016, and the Southeast Asian University Games 2024.

In addition, the company has continuously pioneered efforts to expand international inbound tourism to Vietnam, acting as a bridge for tourism promotion activities across multiple markets and participating in key international events such as Vietnam Night 2022, Qatar Travel Mart 2024, Vietnam International Sourcing 2025, as well as cultural exchange programs and cooperation seminars with major strategic partners worldwide.

Vietravel Reinforces Its Pioneering Position in the Indian Market

Alongside its role in national diplomatic and promotional activities, Vietravel has also become one of the pioneering travel enterprises in developing the Indian market — currently considered one of the world’s fastest-growing and most promising outbound tourism markets.

According to the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism, Vietnam welcomed approximately 750,000 Indian visitors in 2025, representing nearly 50% growth compared to 2024. This strong momentum has continued into 2026, with more than 242,600 Indian arrivals recorded in the first quarter alone, reflecting an increase of over 169% year-on-year.

Beyond impressive growth figures, the Indian market is also recognized for its strong spending power, preference for 4–5-star hospitality services, and stable average length of stay ranging from five to seven days. At the same time, demand for personalized experiences continues to rise — from cuisine and culture to entertainment and service quality. Indian travelers are increasingly seeking not only new international travel experiences but also a sense of cultural connection and familiarity throughout their journeys. These characteristics require travel companies to possess specialized operational capabilities and deep market understanding in order to respond effectively and flexibly.

Recognizing the strong growth potential of the Indian market, combined with years of experience operating large-scale international travel groups, Vietravel quickly established a long-term development strategy and progressively expanded its presence to strengthen tourism connectivity between Vietnam and India.

In 2024, Vietravel proudly welcomed more than 4,500 travelers from Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Limited — one of the largest Indian MICE groups ever hosted in Vietnam. Toward the end of 2025 and early 2026, Vietravel also operated a series of charter flights bringing over 1,400 Indian travelers directly to Phu Quoc, contributing to stronger air connectivity and enhancing Vietnam’s appeal among travelers from the “country of one billion people.”

Notably, on November 14, 2024, in Gurgaon, Vietravel officially launched Viet India Travel Pvt. Ltd. This milestone is considered a strategic step in expanding bilateral tourism cooperation and enhancing travel experiences for visitors from both countries.

Strengthening Tourism Connectivity Through Strategic Cooperation with India’s Largest Online Travel Platform

Building upon its achievements in the Indian market, together with the trust placed by governments and authorities in its operational and international cooperation capabilities, Vietravel continues to expand its global partnership network through the strategic cooperation agreement signed with MakeMyTrip at the Vietnam–India Business Forum during this State Visit.

The event not only marked another milestone in Vietravel’s international market expansion strategy, but also reaffirmed the company’s pioneering role as one of Vietnam’s leading travel enterprises in promoting tourism cooperation, business connectivity, and supporting Vietnam’s broader development orientation in the new era.

Enhancing Connectivity and Elevating Experiences for Indian Travelers

Under the cooperation framework with MakeMyTrip, Vietravel plans to further expand both direct and digital distribution channels while accelerating product development initiatives and enhancing travel experiences for Indian visitors in Vietnam.

The company will focus on developing integrated travel products that combine leisure, entertainment, and experiential tourism, alongside launching attractive promotional campaigns and activities tailored to the preferences and travel behaviors of Indian travelers. In addition, Vietravel plans to organize more Indian-inspired cultural festivals and entertainment events in Vietnam, combined with nightlife experiences — one of the key interests among Indian outbound travelers.

At the same time, Vietravel will continue to strengthen strategic segments such as MICE tourism and luxury wedding tourism, both of which are experiencing strong growth and require premium service standards.

Through its sustainable development orientation and customer-centric philosophy, Vietravel aims not only to expand market accessibility, but also to gradually build a more comprehensive tourism ecosystem aligned with the increasingly diverse demands of Indian travelers in the years ahead.

Vietravel Remains Committed to Elevating Vietnam’s Tourism Position Globally

With more than three decades of establishment and development, Vietravel remains steadfast in its mission to expand international markets and enhance competitiveness through digital transformation, global partnership expansion, and the creation of meaningful travel experiences that allow visitors not only to explore destinations, but also to connect deeply with local culture and people.

The cooperation with MakeMyTrip stands as a clear testament to Vietravel’s long-term commitment and ongoing efforts, while further affirming its capabilities in international connectivity, tourism promotion, and positioning Vietnam on the global tourism map.

Moving forward, Vietravel will continue to strengthen its role as a cultural and tourism bridge, contributing to the wider promotion of Vietnam’s image, people, and cultural identity to international audiences, while fostering deeper exchanges, broader cooperation, and the continued elevation of Vietnam’s position in the global tourism industry.
